根据公布的信息，2008年对奥巴马夫妇来说是一个丰收年。虽然自诩为平民总统，他们在2008年调整后的收入近265万7千美元。他们大多数的收入来自奥巴马的两本书：《父亲的梦想》和《大胆的希望》。

    关于缴税情况，他们需要上缴85万5千多美元的联邦税，大致相当于调整后收入的32%。他们唯一降低缴税的做法就是捐赠。奥巴马夫妇税表显示他们在2008年向37家慈善机构和个人捐赠了17万2千多美元。大致相当于他们调整后收入的6.5%。最大的捐赠是向天主教救援服务中心（Catholic Relief Services）和黑人联合学院基金（United Negro College Fund）各捐赠了2万5千美元。

    WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama made nearly $2.5 million in 2008 from the sales of his two best-selling memoirs, according to tax information released by the White House on Wednesday.
    
    Obama jointly filed his 2008 federal income tax return with his wife Michelle, reporting an adjusted gross income of $2,656,902 and paying $855,323 in federal income tax and $77,883 in state income taxes, the White House said.
    
    Obama's books, "Dreams From My Father" and "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream", were New York Times best-sellers and have sold hundreds of thousands of copies in the United States and around the world.
